When the System's Loading but God's Already Done It

A Workday Breakdown, a Holy Spirit Nudge, and a Reminder That Trusting God Isn't Just for Sundays

Let me set the scene: You pray for help at work. Simple prayer. You know the kind "Lord, please just sort this out before I snap or quit dramatically." And then you do your part, because you're not lazy, just over it. You've followed the process, dotted the i's, crossed the t's, and now it's out of your hands theoretically.

But the deadline is looming, the pressure's mounting, and even though you prayed, you're still side-eyeing the screen like, "God... you seeing this??"

The Email That Nearly Took Me Out

So this morning, I receive an email from another department. They've just noticed an issue. One day - ONE - before the data needs to go live. Mind you, I sorted my part weeks ago. But because I'm known to fix things quicker than HR avoids awkward conversations, the request lands on my desk.

I figure, "This won't take long." I mean, I've done it before, right? Confidence is high. (Spoiler: it shouldn't have been.)

Suddenly I'm in tech chaos — data won't split, files refuse to convert, renaming does nothing. All my usual go-to tricks? Useless. What normally works is now giving me the digital equivalent of a blank stare. Just me, a stubborn system, and growing frustration.

Meanwhile, I've got a session to run (again, not fully prepped but listen gift of wisdom = activated). You'd think with all the times I've stepped in, someone might offer to help. Nope. Sis was ghost. And I'm sitting here realising I' doing the most... again.

                  The Whisper I Ignored

I kept getting this quiet nudge in my spirit to just delete everything and reload. But I didn't trust it. The what if's kick in - what if I make it worse? What if the department sees the data is gone and comes for me with their passive-aggressive "per my last email" energy?
“Though the system spins and the screen stays still, heaven moves at the whisper of His will.”

Still, nothing else is working. So I do what every Christian does when stressed but still trying to be righteous: I pray. "

"Abba, you put me here. You know I'm trying. But I'm also ready to leave... so... sort it out. Please. Today."

Eventually, I obey that nudge. I delete. I reconfigure. I refresh. But the system? Still slow. Slower than a snail on a sabbatical.

I have to leave for the school run (because I'm also a parent, hello). No traffic, a small mercy. I get back. It's still not showing on my end. But then…

The Revelation

Colleagues from both departments message me:

"We can see the updates. Everything looks fine."

Excuse me? Because I see nothing but an error message and a spinning wheel of mockery. But THEY see the results. It's DONE.

And just like that God gave me a word in my workplace.

“We live by faith, not by sight.” – 2 Corinthians 5:7
“We live by faith, not by sight.” – 2 Corinthians 5:7

Sometimes you pray, you obey, and nothing looks different... to YOU. But in the background, God's already worked it out. The system is live. The issue is resolved. It's just your screen that hasn't caught up yet.

Ecclesiastes 11:5 reinforces the mystery of God's behind-the-scenes activity. Just like you can't track the wind or explain how a baby forms in the womb, you won't always understand how God moves but trust, He is moving. The system may still say 'loading' on your end, but heaven already pressed 'complete.'

"Just because you can't see the update doesn't mean it didn't go through. Trust God's timing, not your loading screen."

Real-Life Application (aka the lesson disguised as a rant):

  1. Obedience is better than overthinking. That whisper from the Holy Spirit? Trust it. It might sound too simple, but that's how God works sometimes. He's not complicated, we are.
  2. Progress doesn't always look like progress. Just because it hasn't updated on your end, doesn't mean it isn't working. Sometimes people around you can see the fruit before you do.
  3. God works in the everyday. Not just in church or during your "quiet time," but in Teams calls, error logs, and last-minute emails. He's involved. Invite Him in.
  4. Stop letting people's panic become your pressure. Someone else's lack of time management is not your emergency. Facts are facts. You're not Jesus. (But He's in you, so stay kind. Slightly sarcastic, but kind.)
  5. God's got receipts. If it ever came to it, I had my evidence, I had the date stamps, and I had God as my Defender. Don't mess with His kids!

📌A Note to You

Next time something's glitching whether it's your computer, your job, your faith, or your life remember this: just because you can't see it yet doesn't mean it isn't already fixed. Trust the process. Trust the prompting. And trust the God who sees it all from the backend.

He doesn't need a loading screen to prove He's working.

And if you're feeling the pressure — remember: You're graced for this. Just maybe log off and pray first.

Now go sip your tea, reboot your faith, and let's keep trusting the One who never lags
